The Value of Well Water Maintenance

Well water systems can be baffling for home owners, and we hope to provide some insight. Well water system maintenance is an important part of home ownership and keeping your family healthy and safe! Before we get into the nitty gritty of system maintenance, a little background about the company for those of you who are not familiar with The Water Dr.!

Water Dr. LLC was created 2010, by Richard Hallet (Rick) and his wife, Suzanne. Rick has worked in the well water industry the majority of his adult life. Rick had always wanted to start his own business and provide his customers with a high-quality service he could be proud of. Rick, at the time was well into his 40s, but knew he could make it work, and took a leap of faith. With the support of his family, he achieved his goal. The Water Dr. is still a family owned and operated business, that has proudly been serving the state of Connecticut! The Water Dr. LLC is based in Ansonia and serves the entire state of Connecticut!

It can be difficult to understand all the components, and value of the routine maintenance of a well water system, so let’s equate the system to something most people are very familiar with, car maintenance! Maintaining your well water equipment annually is, in our mind, as important as changing your car’s oil every 3,000 – 5,000 miles. As with cars, if you do not maintain the equipment on a regular basis, the equipment will function with less efficiency, which in turn will decrease life expectancy.

Well System Components for Maintenance

The two major components to a well system are the well pump and well tank. These two components work together to bring water into your house, to your faucets and toilets when you need them. If one component is not functioning properly, the other will suffer accordingly. When you service your equipment annually, you are ensuring the longevity of the equipment. One of the most common issues with well water systems is equipment malfunction due to lack of system maintenance, this is an avoidable problem. However, many homeowners aren’t even aware their system needs routine maintenance, so spread the word! We recommend servicing your well water system once, per year or at the very least once every 2 years (the equivalent of 3,000 miles – 5,000 miles oil changes). This is in line with most equipment manufacturer recommendations.
